Discover Deadman Valley
(Silverspring Ranch is nestled above and behind Deadman cliffs)
Follow the gravel road north thru the lush green valley, see the hoodoos, caves, volcanic lava cliffs and rock bluffs. Some scenes of the movie “An unfinished Life” with Robert Redford and Jennifer Lopez were shot just there. Travel past seven lakes, take a break at the Deadman Falls. The falls roar into a narrow canyon of 90m/280feet and are most impressive in late spring.
Ashcroft is “hot”
Established as a railway town between 1883 and early 1920, the spirit is still lingering in this well groomed little town. The historic park takes you back a few years, tells you local history. Visit the Ashcroft museum. Jo Petty a well known local artist leaves her marks in town colorful outdoor paintings catch your eye while you sip a coffee - you will have fun. Yes - Ashcroft is hot and "artsy".
Gold Rush Trail
The Hat Creek Ranch was a road house on the Gold Rush Trail where prospectors refreshed and followed their big dream to dig for gold. Today tourists can join a tour and live thru the old days.
Dragon Races at the Nl’akapxm Eagle Motorplex
Along TransCanada, south of Cache Creek is the race track. Spectacular race cars fly the track, drags and bikes. A delightful event is the nostalgic parade of vintage cars coming from all over the province to “show off” their treasures on 4 wheels. www.eaglemotorplex.com
Kamloops
We always provide the weekly news “what is going on in and around Kamloops” for our guests. Depending on their Gusto they will choose what to do.
A must see the Powwow (the first week-end in August) a get together from First Nations all over the continent. Fascinating and talented dancers in their traditional regalia perform in competitions. The rhythmic sound of the drums will carry you away. Taste the traditional Banock (bread).
Golf
At Kamloops Lake, 15 minutes west of Kamloops.
The Tobiano golf course is in full swing. Designed by Thomas McBroom this 18-hole championship course will let a golfer's heart go tee-wild. The club house offers a fine selection of tasty dishes, a fantastic view over the Kamloops Lake - cheers!
Rodeo
There are rodeos throughout spring / summer and fall in the area.
The great thing about the local rodeos is that you are right in the middle of it - no watching from outside. The smells, adrenaline boiling, dust clouds, the bull’s baritone, the chewed up cowboy boots and hats will make you a part of it. Yeehaaa.
Riding
There are guided trail rides near Kamloops if horseback is on your “to do list”.
Biking
Trained muscles, a strong/sturdy bike and a helmet and you are set to take off on the Old Road from Silverspring Ranch to Deadman.
Prospect for gold
All the creeks invite you to give it a try to prospect for gold. So far, we still have to work for our living and could not find a couple of pounds of solid gold!! If you get lucky – will you share with us???
Fishing
Many fishing lakes around here, it’s your turn to pick - do not forget to bring your license.
